What is Designer On Demand?

 

We understand that you may not necessarily be looking for a full service design, or even a design plan for that matter. You may very much be in touch with your inner decorator, but find that you need some occasional guidance or a second opinion before making a major purchase for your home.

 

Maybe you have an ongoing project where you are acting as your own contractor and need some advice on the best materials to use, or if what you chose will even work together in the space.

 

Our "Designer On Demand" service is designed for individuals who need ongoing design advice on an as needed basis, and not necessarily all at once. It is for clients who need more than just a 2 hour in-home consultation, but don't need to retain us for a full service design project.

 

Maybe you enjoy the process of sourcing and purchasing your own furnishings, but need a designer eye to make sure they all work well together. Designer On Demand gives you the flexibility to tap into our design knowledge and expertise, only when you need it. 

Who is it ideal for?

 

  • If you are doing a redecorating project and need us to take a look at the plans to make sure the space is being used well

  • If you need verification that the finish materials you have chosen for your remodel work well and flow together

  • If you need assistance in sourcing wallpaper and fabrics for your DIY project

  • If you are acting as your own contractor and need resources for acquiring materials 

  • If you need help sourcing specific things like fine art, antiques or designing a custom piece of furniture

  • If you are too busy to make purchases, arrange for delivery, do the assembly yourself and need someone to project manage all these details for you

how it works

After purchasing a minimum of a 10 hour time block initially, we will email you to discuss the details and send our design questionnaires for you to complete. Your need can be immediate or for a later project, but please keep in mind that time blocks are good for up to 90 days only. Designer On Demand time blocks can be purchased in increments of 10 hours.

Once we verify your purchase, we credit your account the total number of hours you purchased. Each time you request our services - anything from a text message to a sourcing day, we will deduct that time from your available time. Time deductions are made in increments of 5 minutes. We will send you a report every two weeks, showing how the time is used and how much time remains on your account. If after 90 days you still have unused time, they will be considered null and void. There is no refund. However, you can choose to purchase another time block as needed and any unused time will be rolled over for another 90 days. For example, you have two hours of unused time and the 90 days is nearly up. By purchasing another block of 10 hours, you now have twelve hours to use for the next 90+ days. At the end of the 180 days, if you still have unused time, we'll refund you a maximum of 9 hours of any unused times.

Receiver and delivery charge, as well as all trade services including painting, wallpaper hanging, assembly, contract work, and etc. are billed separately.

  • A consultation is not included with the Designer On Demand service fee. You are welcomed to book one starting at $398. If you choose not to schedule a consultation, you will be responsible for providing us with all the information and measurements needed to properly advise you on your project

  • Your service fee includes the total number of hours included with your chosen block of time, billed at our special hourly rate of $95. Travel cost will be billed at $50/hour (Please note prices do not include taxes & are subject to change)

  • We may NOT reply to text messages and phone calls instantly, especially if they are outside of our business hours (M-F 9:30am to 5:00pm), but we will return your call or email within one business day

  • This is not intended to be an instant response service, so we still need to schedule time on our calendar to focus on your project - as much advanced notice as possible is required. We usually are booked out for at least one week

  • We will not accept texted pictures or messages while you are out shopping. It is best to send an email or upload the pictures onto our HOUZZ Pro portal with either a link or picture (with dimensions) to the furniture pieces you are considering. We need this so we can research all pertinent information. If this is challenging for you, we may accept other forms of communication such as WhatsApp

  • You are aware that the Designer On Demand service is not like our typical design service, where we work with a list of qualified vendors and trades people. We are, in most cases, simply providing our opinion based on our design expertise. We will not be responsible for any errors and omissions that occur from using this service

  • We require that our design questionnaire be thoroughly completed for this service

  • All communications must be conducted at our client portal so that we will be able to keep track

  • Please note that our design advice ends when you have no more time remaining, even if your project is ongoing. You are welcomed to purchase another 10 hour time block

  • We reserve the right to cancel the Designer On Demand Agreement if we believe that it is not being used for its intended purpose. Your remaining balance will be returned to you in the event that we cancel the service for this reason

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we kindly request 24 hours’ notice, or charges for the missed appointment will be applied to your purchased time. 

  • We shall retain ownership of the design, including any drawings, renderings, sketches, samples, or other materials prepared by us during the course of the Project. Our ownership shall include any copyrights, trademarks, patents, or other proprietary rights existing in the design. You shall not use the design for additions to this Project or for any other project without obtaining our permission and paying appropriate compensation.

  • If outside consultants, including but not limited to architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, acoustical engineers, and lighting designers, are needed for the Project, they shall be retained and paid for by you, and we shall cooperate fully with these consultants. Such consultants shall be responsible for code compliance in the various areas of their expertise.

  • We shall have the right to document the Project in progress and when completed, by photography or other means, which we may use for portfolio, brochure, public display, and similar publicity purposes. A general location of the Project may be used in connection with the documentation, but no personal information, such as your name, will be publicized unless specified to the contrary. If we choose to document the Project, we shall pay the costs of documentation. In addition, if you document the Project, we shall be given credit as the designer for the Project if your documentation is released to the public. 

  • We and you are both independent contractors. This agreement is not an employment agreement, nor does it constitute a joint venture or partnership between us and you. Nothing contained herein shall be construed to be inconsistent with this independent contractor relationship.

  • Neither our nor your rights and duties may be assigned by either party without the written consent of the other party, except that we may assign payments due hereunder.
